The brief
Bishop Jerome Institute runs its Engineering, Management and Architecture courses from three blocks, about 2.5 lakh sq ft in all. Our audit of the existing network found performance problems, limits in the old layout and security gaps.
The institute wanted a modern campus network, a proper server room, and the new network joined to its existing firewall.
What we did
- Audited the existing network across the campus and planned the new one.
- Designed the ELV layout for all three blocks: data, voice and CCTV points, cable routes and equipment locations.
- Laid structured cabling, with an optical fibre backbone between floors and between blocks.
- Built a dedicated server room for the core equipment, linked to the campus backbone.
- Supplied, installed and configured the core switches, routers and firewall appliances.
- Connected CCTV across the campus buildings to the new network.
- Joined the new network to the existing firewall, with internet access rules set to the institute’s requirements.
- Installed campus Wi-Fi with guest access, managed from one place.
The result
One campus network across three blocks. Fast fibre links between floors and buildings, a proper server room, and Wi-Fi and internet access controlled from one place.
